Published on February 19, 2025:

Dakota Ditcheva, the PFL flyweight world champion from Manchester and a British first-time winner of a major MMA world title in 2024, will not compete in the upcoming 2025 tournament. The news comes as Donn Davis, chairman of the Professional Fighters League (PFL), announced significant changes to the league’s format.

The PFL has decided to remove $1 million prize money and world title status from their US-based tournaments following these recent reforms. Consequently, Ditcheva will participate in a new series called the ‘PFL Champions Series,’ which is set to kick off in July.

Ditcheva expressed her desire to fight at home in Manchester next, but details about how her opponent will be chosen remain uncertain at this time.

The PFL has announced the flyweights who will compete in the 2025 tournament. Most of these competitors have previously appeared in last year’s series.

Although Davis did not reveal any other names set to fight on the ‘PFL Champions Series,’ he indicated that it would be a platform where “PFL tournament champions and Bellator champions come to face each other.” This suggests potential matchups between 2025 PFL world champions and recent Bellator title holders, such as Usman Nurmagomedov, before the brand was discontinued in January.
