In an effort to reclaim their position as dominant contenders, England will aim to reverse their disappointing performances from last year when they play both Australia and New Zealand during the upcoming Autumn Nations Series. Under Steve Borthwick’s leadership in 2024, England held a lead in each match but ultimately succumbed to defeat late on, resulting in an unsuccessful autumn campaign that saw them lose to three Tier-One nations, including world champions South Africa, as well as defeating Japan.

Against the All Blacks, George Ford missed a crucial last-gasp drop goal which allowed New Zealand to edge past with a narrow 24-22 victory. Meanwhile, in their clash against Australia, Max Jorgensen secured an emphatic win for his team by scoring a late try, leading them to a resounding 42-37 triumph.

The Autumn Nations Series kicks off on Saturday, November 1st at Allianz Stadium with England taking on the Wallabies. Following Fiji’s return match against England in Twickenham, which they narrowly won in their last encounter, Borthwick will lead his team to another rivalry showdown against the All Blacks on Sunday, November 15th.

England hasn’t tasted victory over New Zealand at home since their thrilling 38-21 win against the then-world champions in 2012. The hosts are set to conclude their four-game campaign with a match against Argentina back at Allianz Stadium on Sunday, November 23rd.

“These upcoming matches provide an excellent chance for our squad to adapt and compete across different styles of rugby as we continue to grow,” said England head coach Borthwick. “The atmosphere at Allianz Stadium is always electric, and I’m confident that every player would relish the opportunity to represent their country in such a spectacular venue.”
