These talented young individuals, ranging in age from 10 to 13 and originating from Avian Dance School in Norwich, are set to join over 120,000 competitors representing an impressive total of 66 countries at this spectacular event taking place in Spain during July.
Avian Dance School has initiated a fundraising campaign over the coming months to cover the substantial costs associated with their travel arrangements, accommodation needs, entry fees and the preparation of costumes. “This is an extraordinary opportunity for these young dancers,” principal Harriet Wigger expressed. “We have been delighted watching them excel not only in terms of technical proficiency and performance quality but also in developing significant gains in self-confidence and self-belief.” Avian Dance School feels honored to support this group of aspiring young female performers, proudly anticipating their remarkable success on the global stage.
The qualification rounds for this year’s competition were highly competitive with up to 90 entries per category; only the top five competitors in each segment have earned a place representing England. Two members will compete as part of a duo, while all nine dancers from Avian Dance School are scheduled to perform together during the finals in Burgos, located in northern Spain.
“This monumental experience comes at a significant cost for both the dancers and their families,” admitted representatives from Avian Dance School, “as each participant must bear the financial burden of organizing their own journey. The school is actively seeking sponsorship opportunities from local businesses to alleviate some of these expenses.”
The Dance World Cup made its debut in Jersey within the Channel Islands back in 2009 and has since established itself as the largest dance competition for children and young adults worldwide, embracing a diverse array of genres.
