Lewis Hamilton claimed six of his seven drivers’ championships over a twelve-year period while racing for Mercedes.
Published just two hours ago, the article garnered 166 comments. Lewis Hamilton made his global debut as a Ferrari driver during Formula One’s launch event for its 2025 season at Londons O2 Arena. The grand spectacle was punctuated by an incredible display from Hamilton, who received thunderous applause.
While many drivers drew attention, the audience of approximately fifteen thousand people overwhelmingly reacted to them. Ticket sales had already sold out within twenty minutes last year for this event alone.
“Good evening everyone,” remarked Hamilton as he addressed the crowd celebrating his first appearance in a Ferrari suit alongside the seven-time champion’s presence.
F1 75 launch event images published one hour ago, revealing Russell’s statement that there is ‘no intention’ of speaking to Verstappen. Additionally, Antonelli experienced a challenging driving test week as described eight hours earlier. Meanwhile, Jack Whitehall quipped about the distress Mercedes must have felt seeing their former champion part ways for Ferrari.
Hamilton once dominated F1 while racing under the Mercedes banner. Now, he has joined forces with the most prestigious and historically significant team in Formula One – a partnership that promises to create much buzz even before the season starts next month.
“It’s everyone’s worst nightmare,” Whitehall laughed. “Your partner of ten years suddenly defects for an Italian stallion.” Hamilton, Charles Leclerc, and Ferrari team boss Frederic Vasseur promptly left after the show to prepare for their official car launch in Maranello on Wednesday.
Unlike other teams’ cars showcased during this years event which were merely show models, Hamilton had his eyes set on securing a record-breaking eighth title with Ferrari. The audience’s enthusiasm was palpable; there was no mistaking the crowd’s love for popular drivers like Leclerc, fellow Briton Lando Norris, McLaren team-mate Oscar Piastri, veteran Fernando Alonso from Aston Martin, Williams Carlos Sainz and George Russell from Mercedes.
Leclerc received quite a bit of ribbing from comedian Whitehall during the show. The latter teased about Leclercs good looks whenever he had a chance to do so. Moreover, there was some irreverence at play; Norris even threw out an offensive word while jokingly insulting Whitehall during their exchange.
FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem is known for his crusade against bad language in Formula One, which has generally been seen as poorly handled by most within the sport. Given this context, it’s unlikely he’ll pursue such matters on this occasion. Gordon Ramsay, whose brand endorses F1 and who was present at the event, commented: “This is a new milestone; such an amazing event.”
Toto Wolff from Mercedes echoed similar sentiments: Its a pleasure to be here tonight, Norris said excitedly.
Zak Brown concluded by stating: We never stop racing. Let’s go.
