Fiorentina striker Moise Kean collapsed on the pitch and had to be rushed to hospital after suffering a head injury during Sundays 1-0 loss against Hellas Verona. The former Everton, Paris St-Germain, and Juventus forward’s face collided with Pawel Dawidowicz’s knee as he fell while battling for possession in the 58th minute.

Despite receiving treatment immediately after his fall, Kean lost his balance again in the 64th minute. Players from both teams quickly alerted medical personnel before the Serie A match had to be suspended. Fiorentina released a statement saying, “Moise Kean suffered head trauma during today’s match against Verona and is currently undergoing tests at hospital.”

Antoine Bernede scored the only goal of the game for Hellas Verona in stoppage time, securing their victory.

In December, Fiorentina midfielder Edoardo Bove also collapsed on the pitch during a game against Inter Milan. The match was abandoned following his incident and he later had successful surgery followed by fitting a removable defibrillator to prevent fatal cardiac arrest.
