Gale-Force Storms Cause Disruption for Airlines and Ferries Alike

EasyJet’s services between the island and Liverpool and Gatwick airports faced delays, while Loganair flight to Manchester was cancelled, causing a ripple effect on other services.
Ferry crossings to Heysham were canceled by the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company; however, the Manxman, scheduled to sail for Liverpool at 13:00 GMT instead. The vessel is planned to travel onwards from there towards Heysham and return overnight back to Douglas from Lancashire port.
A yellow weather warning was issued up until 15:00 GMT, predicting gusts of winds reaching up to 60mph (97km/h). Ronaldsway Met Office had warned about potential dangers on the island’s roads due to a risk of falling trees or branches. Motorists were advised to exercise extra caution especially on A18 Mountain Road, where thick fog reduced visibility.
Although the weather conditions are expected to improve slightly over Saturday, The Isle of Man Steam Packet Company stated that more ferry disruptions could occur on Sunday. An additional yellow weather warning is in effect for severe gales between 04:00 and 15:00, with winds anticipated to reach speeds of up to 70mph (113km/h).
