Tottenham Hotspur suffered a fourth consecutive Premier League defeat four weeks ago, leading many to believe that their season was heading towards an end. However, just recently the team pulled off a stunning upset with a decisive 4-1 victory over Ipswich Town at Portman Road. This triumph marks Spurs’ first three-game winning streak since December 2023 and provides hope for fans and managers alike as they aim to secure European football in the upcoming season.

Head coach Ange Postecoglou expressed his satisfaction with how Tottenham has managed their recent performances: “We’re certainly in a good space, using these two weeks well to re-energise the team,” he said. Adding that Spurs are currently 12th in the table and face an upcoming Europa League last-16 tie against AZ Alkmaar, Postecoglou highlighted their potential opportunities: “What’s ahead is obviously Europe, but also an opportunity to address our league position, which isn’t good enough yet.”

The manner in which Tottenham dismantled Ipswich was nothing short of impressive. Two goals from Brennan Johnson came as a result of Son Heung-min’s stellar wing play. Djed Spence scored his first top-flight goal while Dejan Kulusevski added another strike to seal the win for Spurs. “I thought we did the hard things really well,” Postecoglou said, further praising their defensive and attacking performance.

Despite recent improvements in Tottenham’s lineup due to returning stars such as Dominic Solanke and James Maddison, injuries remain an ongoing issue with key players like Cristian Romero still sidelined. However, it is expected that most absentees will be back within the next three weeks, allowing Postecoglou a full squad for the most crucial stages of the season.

Currently standing 10 points behind fifth-place Bournemouth, Tottenham has an opportunity to secure Champions League football by securing either fourth or seventh place. Before the March international break, they have two home games against Manchester City and Bournemouth followed by a trip across London to face Fulham in Europe. If Postecoglou’s side can continue this trend of strong performances and results, finishing on high is certainly within their reach.
