Jersey Airport Proposes Enhanced Public Areas to Improve Passenger Experience

BBC News reports that Plans are underway at Jersey Airport, with the goal of enhancing public spaces and improving passenger experience. Specifically, they aim to expand areas around terminals by repurposing a decommissioned hangar.

Ports of Jersey (PoJ) has detailed their plans, stating that these improvements would target the arrivals and parking areas directly in front of terminals. The primary strategy involves breaking down the old hangar to free up space.

Ashley Maggs, who directs Airport, shared his excitement for this project: We hope passengers will appreciate and enjoy the public spaces we are developing specifically for them. According to him, the removal of the former hangar has allowed a fresh approach to enhancing passenger arrivals.

Specifically, Maggs highlighted that there would be an increase in open space as travelers exit terminals, complete with runway views. Additionally, he mentioned plans for more sheltered areas where passengers can wait comfortably for their onward transportation such as buses or taxis.

New hire car facility is another key feature of the proposed changes. The airport director believes this will attract more operators and thereby increase both the number and variety of rental vehicles available to visitors. Furthermore, plans include building new bike storage spaces along with an improved path leading directly from these parking areas to the airport itself.

The Ports of Jersey is expected to submit a planning application soon as it gears up for this exciting development at Jersey Airport.
