The Keith Flint mural at Braintree Town FC is showing signs of wear, having been unveiled more than five years ago. Now, the artwork created in memory of Prodigy singer Keith Flint will undergo a makeover to restore it to its original condition.

Made by David ‘Gnasher’ Nash in honor of Flint, who was the dance act’s frontman until his death in March 2019, the mural depicts the singer with his trademark pierced tongue sticking out. The artwork was spray-painted on a water tank at Braintree Town FC near where he lived.

More than five years later, however, the mural has started to show signs of wear and tear. Mr Nash is returning to RBMC Stadium this Thursday to “spruce up” the design ahead of Flint’s sixth anniversary.

“I follow Braintree Town FC online so I’ve seen pictures of the mural popping up all the time,” says Mr Nash, who was enlisted by the club to produce it following Flint’s death. “I have seen that it is flaking off a bit here and there.” However, he adds: “But I don’t think it needs too much TLC, and I’m hoping that the makeover will take just two or three hours.”

Mr Nash was very satisfied with his original creation back in 2019. He added: “I might make some small changes to my original artwork during this time, such as adding more detail.” “After five-and-a-half years, I’m hoping that I have improved and can sharpen up the mural a bit,” he says.

During the event, Mr Nash will be joined by Fay Greaves who is known for her appearance on The Traitors. She represents Ripple Suicide Prevention at this occasion.

A spokesperson from Braintree Town said: “David ‘Gnasher’ Nash returns to Braintree today to spruce up our popular Keith Flint mural. Understandably, the mural is showing signs of wear but Gnasher will be bringing it back to its 2019 condition.”
