Severe Gales Result in Flight and Ferry Cancellations

Severe gales have disrupted flights and ferry services to and from the Isle of Man, leading to significant cancellations. The daytime sailings of the Manxman, operated by the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company, between the island and Lancashire were cancelled due to these adverse conditions.

The company has announced that both its 19:30 GMT crossing to Heysham and the 01:45 return will depart half an hour later than their scheduled times. This delay is expected to affect those planning journeys in the evening and early hours of the morning.

Additionally, most morning and lunchtime flights at Isle of Man Airport have been cancelled, causing a ripple effect on travel plans for passengers throughout the day. The disruptions extend beyond air travel as ferry services experience delays, adding another layer of inconvenience to travelers.

A yellow weather warning has remained in place until 15:00 GMT, issued by the Ronaldsway Met Office. According to their latest warnings, gusts of up to 70mph (113km/h) are expected in the area, highlighting the severity of the gales.

Travelers planning journeys to or from the Isle of Man are advised to check for updates and consider alternative modes of transportation due to these ongoing disruptions caused by severe weather conditions.
