Six Unique Perspectives: Isle of Man Explored Through New Exhibition
South Barrule, an oil painting on linen by Petrina Kent, is part of a modern art exhibition in the western region of the Isle of Man. This exhibition aims to offer various perspectives on the island’s landscape and features artworks from six local artists: Ellie Baker, Sally Black, Helen Faragher, Petrina Kent herself, Ella Magee, and Ongky Wijana.
MNH curator Nicola Tooms highlighted that each artist brings their own personal interpretation of both the natural and cultural landscapes of the Isle of Man. She emphasized that by presenting exhibitions focused on these themes, MNH fosters a sense of “Manx identity and community.”
An MNH spokesperson stated that this exhibition is part of its You Exhibit programme, designed to provide artists and local communities with opportunities to propose their own exhibits. The artworks featured showcase the unique perspectives each artist has in depicting the island through various mediums such as ink, painting, and stone carving.
South Barrule by Petrina Kent, along with Sally Black’s “Eggs,” is displayed at this exhibition held at House of Manannan in Peel. The show runs until 27 April.
