Travel Agency Accuses Web of Causing Its Closure After Four Decades in Business

A long-standing travel agency on the island of Guernsey has announced that it will be shutting down at the end of May. The agency, which was established in 1981 and had been operating for over four decades, cited online bookings and increased overheads as the reasons behind its decision to close.

Trafalgar Travel is located near Picquet House by the Town Terminus in St Peter Port. Since Monday of this week, they have ceased accepting new booking requests and are planning a complete closure at the end of May.

The company intends to handle all travel bookings made before its shutdown in accordance with their usual procedures. Any reservations from June onwards will be managed by alternative travel agencies. The agency’s manager, Charlie Coyle, expressed his disappointment over this decision, emphasizing that it was a “very sad and tough” one taken “with a heavy heart.” He extended heartfelt gratitude to the customers for their support during these many years.

“Every booking we’ve managed has been a pleasure,” Mr. Coyle said. “Your trust in us to fulfill your travel dreams is something we cherish deeply, and we truly appreciate it.”

The agency plans to vacate its current location at Picquet House by the end of February as part of their organized closure process.
