UK Artist Has Chance to Represent Germany in Eurovision
A Suffolk musician has advanced one step closer to representing Germany in the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest following an impressive performance during a televised heat. Ollie Trevers, the lead singer of The Great Leslie, reached the semi-finals of Chefsache ESC 2025 after impressing a panel of judges.
The winner from this competition will be chosen to perform at Eurovision in Basel, Switzerland, scheduled for May. Mr Trevers hails from Framlingham and qualifies for German representation due to his band’s membership including a German member.
Initially selected from about 3,000 entrants, The Great Leslie comprised one of the original 24 acts chosen to audition for Germany’s Eurovision selection competition. They progressed after delivering an “authentic” rendition of Coldplay’s “Fix You.” Despite feeling extremely exhausted post-performance, Mr Trevers described it as both amazing and incredible.
“It was nerve-wracking,” he shared during the interview on BBC Suffolk. Going on television in front of millions is one of the most daunting experiences. During his performance, Mr Trevers encountered a mishap when dry ice caused excessive air dryness. Forgetting to remove his cough sweet before going up stage meant he struggled with it for space throughout the entire show, leading him to panic slightly at the start.
However, despite this minor incident, the judges were impressed by their performance. Mr Trevers is looking forward to his next performance scheduled for Saturday where The Great Leslie will present their Eurovision entry song. He expressed confidence in their chances and hopes that the judges have enjoyed them.
“It’s a fantastic opportunity,” he stated. “There are many talented individuals, but I believe our band resonated well with the judges.” As Mr Trevers’ family is very excited about this development, they eagerly anticipate seeing him perform at Eurovision in May should his team succeed further in the competition.
