Unraveling the Mysterious Upended Campervan in Brittany’s Countryside
Ille-et-Vilaine gendarmerie, a police force based in western France, is investigating an unusual incident involving a campervan that ended up stranded by the side of a road near the city of Saint-Malo on Saturday.
Officer were shocked to find the abandoned vehicle with its bonnet in a ditch and its back resting against overhead power lines. In a Facebook post later that day, they expressed hope that both the driver and any passengers involved would be okay.
Ouest-France newspaper reported that eyewitnesses claimed to have seen three people leave the scene after an accident involving the campervan. The report also indicated that on Sunday, the driver was unhurt when he came forward to police.
The incident has prompted prosecutors to launch a formal inquiry into what caused it. According to Ici news website, one of the tow truck drivers who responded initially stated that he had never seen anything like this in his 22-year career as a professional.
