Upcoming Discussions: Strategic Plans for Enhancing the Quality of Exhibits in the Museum

Core Creative Plans aim to enhance how artifacts are displayed at Lincoln Museum, with improvements set to be discussed in an upcoming meeting. If approved by the Lincolnshire County Council, these enhancements would commence from July 2025 and conclude in January 2026.

Nestled on Danes Terraceformerly known as The Collectionthe free museum showcases Lincolnsire’s history spanning the Stone Age to the Roman, Saxon, and Viking eras. A council report highlights that these upgrades will facilitate better showcasing and rotating of Lincolnshires treasures.

The design approach guarantees longevity and flexibility for exhibition spaces within the Lincoln Museum. The plans encompass new zones and trails as well as interactive digital works. Additionally, what was previously an area for artwork and interactive exhibitsthe public engagement spacewill transform into a rental exhibition space to boost revenue.

In parallel with these updates, work is already underway on refurbishing the cafe, toilets, and IT systems in the auditorium. In previous comments made by Councillor Lindsey Cawrey, executive councillor for culture, she emphasized that this would be “the biggest update to Lincoln Museum since we opened in 2005.”

Cawley elaborated: It will allow us to continue providing you with the warm welcome our visitors expect and presenting the exciting exhibitions and events which define us. To further engage new audiences, she stressed the need for a reimagined approach to telling Lincolnshire’s story.

The proposed plans will be deliberated at a council committee meeting on February 25th. Following this, final approval is anticipated next month from both the council leader and Cawley. For more insights into Lincolnshires culture and events, you can listen to Lincolnshire on BBC Sounds.
